Each morning, Poncha, the striking black feline, performs an intriguing routine. Upon waking, he relocates his bed to a different spot in the house. To those unaware of the background, this behavior might seem quite perplexing.
Someone who follows routines consistently.
It’s amusing and quite endearing, certainly. However, could there be a deeper reason why Poncha feels compelled to move his bed from the living room to the kitchen in his Berlin home?
Poncha must have some impressive dental strength! Cats often engage in peculiar behaviors that might seem illogical to us, but experts suggest that Poncha likely has a valid reason for his actions.
A breath of fresh air
Poncha was diagnosed with chronic feline asthma when he was a kitten. This respiratory issue is generally believed by most clinicians to stem from an allergic reaction to one or more inhaled irritants. Cats suffering from this condition often exhibit symptoms such as coughing, gagging, vomiting, or trouble breathing. To ensure Poncha stays safe and comfortable, he uses an inhaler twice daily.
Poncha has mastered the art of using his inhaler daily! Asthmatic cats might be more sensitive and attentive to their environment. This could explain why they sometimes change the location of their bed, as they seek to enhance their surroundings. For instance, Poncha might simply find the air quality in the kitchen more to his liking than in the living room, and he’s not shy about showing it.
